Heat Pump
A heat pump is able to provide cooling like an air conditioner, but also heating as well. In cooler seasons, a heat pump absorbs heat from the outside air to heat the same refrigerant used in the Summer (even though the air is cold, there is still heat energy). Heat pumps are not ideal for frigid temperatures, which a gas furnace is more suited for.
